Twice a year, parliamentarians from the EU and the ACP countries gather at the Joint Parliamentarian Assemblies.

During this event, EU and ACP representatives adopt measures concerning the improvement of their relations and implementation of the Cotonou agreement. The 24th Plenary session of the JPA will be held on 24-29 November 2012, in Paramaribo, Suriname.

In this opportunity, with negotiations on the 2014-2020 Multi-financial framework being taken in Brussels, the main topic of discussion in Paramaribo will be the 11th European Development Framework (EDF), which is the main cooperation instrument between the EU and ACP countries and will run from January 2014 until 2020. Civil society from both regions actively engages in this dialogue and participates in diverse activities in the framework of JPAs.

Furthermore, CONCORD prepares updated briefings on the main issues that concerns civil society from EU and ACP countries which include recommendations for parliamentarians on how to address them.
