With its new development cooperation strategies for 2014-2020, the EU is in the process of changing how it funds the work of civil society organisations. New types of agreements, conditions and procedures are being introduced or used more frequently than before.
Trust funds, framework partnership agreements, follow-up grants, financial support to third parties – all of these and more are new trends in EuropeAid funding that many CSOs have questions about: What are these new mechanisms? Who decides how they will work? What rules apply? Where is the right information?
CONCORD has studied the different funding delivery mechanisms and collected experiences from members, and the result is a new study titled ‘EU funding Delivery Mechanisms – New trends in EuropeAid Funding and what they mean for CSOs‘ to help platforms and networks within CONCORD and other CSOs better navigate the current EU funding landscape.
The conclusions and recommendations of the study can also be used as a basis for discussion between CSOs and EU delegations on how the ways of delivering funding should develop in the future to promote effective funding for long-term, rights-based development cooperation, and values such as transparency, fairness, diversity, and partnership.
