CONCORD Italy held an event on 19 February to reflect on the Italian Presidency in the development cooperation field.

The event involved members of the Italian Parliament, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and especially the representatives of the Italian NGO Development Cooperation confederation, headed by CONCORD Italy.

During the Italian EU Presidency topics covered included migration, policy coherence and the financing framework for SGDs and those were discussed together with the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Mr. Lapo Pistelli, who made his compliments to Italian NGOs for the excellent work of advocacy and coordination done at national and European level.

The event also officially opened the European Year for Development EYD2015 in Italy with a commitment from both parties, institutions and organizations of Civil society, to work closely together and abandon the “jargon of the sector” and bring the world of development cooperation closer to citizens, fostering constructive dialogue and corroborating the support for development of the taxpayers.
