


CONCORD appoints new Director Tanya Cox as Seamus Jeffreson leaves
After five years as Director, Seamus Jeffreson is moving on from CONCORD, the European Confederation of Development NGOs. From January 2019, Tanya Cox will take over and become the new Director of the Confederation.

Our 15th General Assembly gathered our members in Brussels for 2 days on June 13th and 14th. The 2018’s edition marked several important milestones for our constituency: new statutes, renewal of half the board and new financial guidelines, without forgetting the sessions on the EU elections 2019 and the future EU budget (MFF). The discussions were intense but rewarded by a festive celebration moment at the end of the first day.

Safeguards against sexual exploitation and abuse in development and humanitarian action – European NGOs action points
At the end of April, CONCORD was invited to discuss the recently highlighted issue of sexual misconduct in humanitarian work in the course of a joint workshop with the European Parliament’s DEVE committee. This piece, written by Seamus Jeffreson, CONCORD Director, addresses the issue, and lists the different actions points for EU NGOs. It is drawn from his speaking points and is the product of collaboration and input from many CONCORD members and national platforms across the EU.

Survey on Digitalisation for Development: current situation and future trends
Digitalisation is one of the key and most dynamic mega-trends influencing development today. The Internet of things, big data, automation, robotisation, artificial intelligence, cloud computing…. These technologies are driven by digitalisation.
