AidWatch 2024 explores whose interests EU ODA truly serves: CONCORD Newsletter October 2024
In October, CONCORD launched the 2024 edition of its annual AidWatch report, entitled ‘Whose interests does Official Development Assistance truly serve?’ This year’s report reveals that national self-interest is playing a role in shaping ODA provision. What’s more, the EU’s failure to meet longstanding commitments on ODA allocation has resulted in an ‘aid debt’ to partner countries amounting to €1.2 trillion.
This month’s newsletter also contains a re-cap of the launch event of this year’s AidWatch report, which was kindly hosted by the European Centre for Development Policy Management and featured an engaging panel discussion on the topic of whose interests are shaping ODA.
Finally, this newsletter features a blog from CONCORD’s Director, reflecting on the extent to which partner countries’ interests are being considered in the EU’s current approach to international cooperation.
Catch up on all this and more in this month’s edition of CONCORD’s newsletter.
