Standing strong in the face of shrinking civic space: CONCORD Newsletter December 2023

In the December edition of CONCORD’s newsletter, we shone a spotlight on shrinking civic space. We published a paper entitled ‘Standing Strong in the Storm: an EU strategy to safeguard civic space worldwide’. The paper puts forward recommendations to the EU and Member States to continue their support for civic space and an enabling environment for civil society both domestically and globally through a structured and systemic strategy. 

As well as this, we published a blog post by our Director, Tanya Cox, which addresses the restrictions to civic space which have developed in the EU over the course of 2023 and their potential implications in light of the 2024 European Elections and institutional renewal.
