The CIDSE Secretariat, located in Brussels, is currently looking for a:

COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER to join the Secretariat as soon as possible. The position is 80% with a permanent contract.

You will strengthen our vibrant and international team of dedicated professionals committed to global solidarity and justice, by helping to produce vibrant communications content about our areas of work.

Main responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Operations and Communications Manager, and in collaboration with the Communications and Administrative Assistant and occasional communications interns, you:

  • Develop communication strategies in cooperation with the communications team and advocacy staff;
  • Communicate policy analysis and support policy language coherence;
  • Develop media relations strategies when needed and act as contact person for media professionals;
  • Facilitate collaboration, network dynamics and integrated ways of working, internally and with member organisations;
  • Promote communications materials of partners, allies, and Church actors, when directly relevant for CIDSE’s working areas;
  • Facilitate coordination with the communication units of CIDSE member organisations;
  • Prepare digital toolkits for coordinated communications activities within the network (especially social media);
  • Strategize and contribute to developing the overall CIDSE narrative and communications strategy in accordance with CIDSE’s vision of systemic change;
  • Propose and execute in-house and contractual production of multimedia content: video clips, animation, photography, graphics, infographics;
  • Propose and coordinate web posts (articles, interviews, blogs) and ensure the CIDSE web portal is regularly updated;
  • Manage CIDSE social media channels: draft social media messages, regularly collect and analyze performance;
  • Write, edit and proofread statements, press releases, and other publications, in collaboration with relevant staff.

Your profile:

  • Have at least 3 years of work experience in journalism, marketing or communications with a demonstrated portfolio of communications products;
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in the fields of communications, journalism, environmental or development studies;
  • Are familiar with softwares and platforms such as: Office online, Hubspot, InDesign, Adobe Premiere Pro, WordPress, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Youtube, Buffer and Canva;
  • Manage online meetings via Microsoft Teams and Zoom, and online softwares such as Padlet;
  • Have a creative aesthetic sensitivity;
  • Have video and graphic editing skills;
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, diplomacy and tact;
  • Have excellent written and oral communications skills in English – (native or near-native speaker). Other languages, particularly Spanish and French, are an asset;
  • Are proactive and have good team-working and multicultural skills, experience working in a network or multi-cultural NGO environment is an asset;
  • Are a good multi-tasker and strive for high-quality delivery;
  • Have an encouraging, collaborative, and open-minded attitude;
  • Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of social justice, global justice, systemic change and international development issues;
  • Are interested in and understand the values and mission of CIDSE.

  • The terms and conditions of working, including salary range, are those of CIDSE and depends on experience. The gross salary can vary between 2642 € and 2847 € per month for a 4/5 time.
