About Partos

Partos is the association for development cooperation in The Netherlands and brings together around 100 Dutch development organisations. These organisations are active in the fields of international poverty reduction, humanitarian aid, human rights and sustainable development. Partos is committed to promoting the interests of its members, enabling them to work as effectively as possible towards a just and sustainable world. They are currently seeking a Strategic Public Affairs Advisor (32 hours per week) to join their Policy Influence and Advocacy team with immediate effect.

Profile and team

In this role, you will make a significant contribution to Partos’s direction. You will provide strategic advice and act as a direct sparring partner for the director. You will champion the organisation’s policy and take the lead in coordinating the sector’s lobbying efforts — bringing members together and fostering collaboration.

You are committed to promoting a fair and positive image of international cooperation and of Dutch development organisations. You do this by bringing member organisations together around a common message to politicians and policymakers — in The Hague and Brussels. You also facilitate dialogue with external parties such as the government and the business community.

Together with the Political Adviser, you form the Policy Influence and Advocacy team. You work to exert sector-wide influence on public opinion, politics and the private sector — both nationally and at European level. By speaking with one voice as a sector, you increase the impact of policy initiatives. The key themes in this regard are: policy coherence for development, the position and scope of civil society, and the quality and size of the development budget.
